Current Projects

One of Heritage Malta's aims is to foster european and international relationships with other parties which share same or similar objectives in the area of cultural heritage and conservation practice.

Heritage Malta is actively participating in a number of EU Programmes under different eufunding programmes managed by the European institutions. They vary in content and objectives depending on the nature of the programme or project itself. Due to its wide remit within the cultural heritage and conservation sector, Heritage Malta is always looking forward for new possibilities in partnering with others participating parties from various countries.

Carare

CARARE is a best practice network funded by the European Commission’s ICT Policy Support Programme.

EAFRD - Rehabilitation of Roman Baths and Christian Catacombs (REBACA) in Mgarr and Mosta.

The projects have the scope to invest in maintenance, restoration and upgrading of natural heritage such as the cultural features of village and rural landscape.

Semantic Web-based Thematic European Reference Network Application is a Best Practice Network project supporting the objectives of the European Digital Library.

MINERVA Digitisation Project

MINERVA is a network of Member States' Ministries to discuss, correlate and harmonise activities carried out in digitisation of cultural and scientific content for creating an agreed European common platform, recommendations and guidelines about digitisation, metadata, long-term accessibility and preservation.

Med.Archeo.Sites: Study and Valorisation of Archaeological Sites of the Mediterranean Area - Interreg IIIB Archimed

A financial instrument provided by the EU aiming at promoting spatial planning integration, socio-economic cohesion and the sustainable development of ARCHIMED area, by an innovative and integrated transnational cooperation.

Michael - Plus

The MICHAEL and MICHAEL Plus projects have been funded through the European Commission’s eTen programme, to establish a new service for the European cultural heritage.

SPA Site and Sea Actions Saving Puffinus yelkouan in Malta - Garnija-Maltija

EU LIFE Yelkouan Shearwater Project is a partly sponsored EU partnership initiative lead by BirdLife Malta of four government authorities and three conservation organisations.

ERDF 032 – Archaeological Heritage Conservation Project

The Archaeological Heritage Conservation Project, includes works on three sites, namely the Tarxien Temples (Tarxien).The Ggantija Archeological Park (Xaghra, Gozo) and St. Paul’s Catacombs (Rabat).

ESF 1.31 Wood CPR: Education and Training in Wood Conservation-Restoration

The Education and Training in Wood Conservation – Restoration Project, which the Institute of Conservation and Management of Cultural Heritage within Heritage Malta is currently undertaking improves education and skills in relation to material cultural heritage at large, and specifically in wood and furniture in the context of the European Qualifications Framework.
