Educational Thematic Activities for Lent by Heritage Malta

The National Museum of Ethnography in the Inquisitor’s Palace at Vittoriosa has organised seven educational sessions focusing on the cultural heritage associated with Lent and Easter traditions in Malta: Passio et Resurrectio: The Cult of Christ’s Passion and Resurrection from Lent to Pentecost. This display offers a different perspective of the theme since it explores the rich socio-cultural and artistic legacy connected to this time of year to continue giving due importance to the Maltese intangible heritage.

Spring Equinox at Mnajdra Temples 

Heritage Malta had once again organised a guided tour of the Mnajdra on Saturday 20th, Sunday 21st to mark the spring equinox. Sunrise on the first day of each season underlines the relationship between the temples and celestial bodies: Ħagar Qim orientation is truly systematic to point out the motion of the stars, the moon and sun.

Donations to National Museum of Natural History

Heritage Malta has been presented with two important natural history collections by Guido Lanfranco and Prof Denis de Lucca. The donation consists of over 320 between books, prints covering various topics from Maltese entomology to ornithology and over 500 geological specimens. HM also received De Lucca's insect collection made up of 36 glass-topped boxes containing several hundreds of insects. Both collections are available to general public for research purposes.

Restoration works at Fort St Angelo

Heritage Malta, in collaboration with the Restoration Unit within the Ministry of Resources and Infrastructure, has commenced restoration works at Fort St Angelo with the first task being that of restoring the bell-cot, its bell and the surrounding area of the cavalier.
