Venue
The Maltese Islands
The first known cultural evidence on the Maltese Islands dates back to 7000 years ago. Since then, the islands have been inhabited by various cultures which have endowed the islands with an array of cultural assets. The quantity and diversity of sites offer the tourist a broad spectrum of the cultural elements from the Mediterranean. In contrast, the Maltese authorities are faced with a management challenge.
Location of Conference
The historical city of Birgu, has been undergoing a regeneration project, and is now at an advanced stage. Thus, it is an ideal location for such a conference on cultural heritage disciplines since it combines both historical and contemporary management approaches. The Malta Maritime Museum is located in the ex British naval bakery which was built on the location of the galley arsenal of the Order of Saint John. The Museum is also undergoing refurbishment, where it will be extended and made more accesible to the public.
