The Hal Saflieni Hypogeum is a rock-cut underground complex that was used for burial purposes by the temple builders. It was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1980. Further details about the Hypogeum can be obtained from the Museums and Sites section.
Due to its extremely sensitive condition, entrance to the Hypogeum is strictly restricted to 10 visitors every hour. We regret to inform that any tickets purchased are not refundable or exchangeable.
Please note that due to health and safety reasons, no one under the age of 6 years will be admitted to the Hypogeum under any circumstances. Also, you are cautioned if suffering from claustrophobia.
Tickets are available in a number of denominations:
Adults - 18 to 59 years of age - Eur 20.00
Children - 6 to 11 years of age - Eur 12.00
Youth (inc aged 12-17) - Eur 15.00
Seniors - 60 years and over - Eur 15.00
Card Holders - ISIC , EURO<26 , ICOM, UoM - Eur 15.00
Heritage Malta members are requested to check with Heritage Malta ticketing office at Head Office on the way entrance to the Hypogeum should be validated.

FOR 2012 TICKETS PLEASE CALL +356 22954312 (office hours) OR EMAIL US ON info@heritagemalta.org. 2012 TICKETS booked through entities NOT BEING HERITAGE MALTA will be refused entry to the Hal Saflieni Hypogeum. Heritage Malta will NOT assume any responsibility for 2012 tickets which are not purchased through Heritage Malta and will subsequently be refused entry. Services with MALTATICKET will be terminated as from the 21st December 2011 and thus Heritage Malta cannot accept any responsibility for tickets booked beyond that date from any provider other than Heritage Malta. Kindly contact MALTATICKET for a refund on +356 27842538 or info@maltaticket.com since 2012 tickets bought from MALTATICKET will not be considered valid for admission to the Hypogeum.
Heritage Malta guidebooks and souvenirs are available for sale from the Hypogeum. Tickets for any other Heritage Malta site can also be obtained from the Hypogeum. Tarxien Temples are located within walking distance from the Hypogeum.
The buses which will take you to the Hypogeum are the following:
11, 12, 13, 15, 17,18,19,20, 21,27,29,30. You should stop infront of Paola Parish Church and walk through the mainroad towards Sta. Lucia for about 200 metres.
