- COURSE DESCRIPTION
"
The course will provide a treatment of the history of
conservation and restoration from the Renaissance up to the
present. Particular attention will be given to the birth
of the various centers for conservation and restoration in
Europe during the last century. It will also treat the importance
of interdisciplinarity in the field on conservation and the
necessity of a structured project. The course will treat
the problem of terminology and the understanding of terms
used in different languages. Furthermore, the historical
overview will focus on paintings, architecture, the built
environment and sculpture, together with the so-called applied
arts and other kinds of material anthropogenic objects and
structures and their related intangible cultural dimensions."
